Can hardly believe Mom you have been gone ten years! I think of you often. Time has not healed the pain of your loss..the sound of your voice, your smile, your sense of humour, our long talks by phone where we covered so many, many topics. Still miss you terribly. I doubt I will ever get over the loss of a Mother who did her best to raise five children in times of great poverty. I loved you so very much!..Still do! You kept us all fed on a frugal budget Dad could provide. We were poor but I have many wonderful childhood memories:)
You taught me a lot how to save and seek out sales..your lessons served me well as I raised my 3 children alone after my marriage breakdown.
Sadly we never had a chance to say goodbye Mom when a medical procedure left you unable to speak. I know you could hear us as each family member came to visit. Heart-wrenching to have lost both my father and mother to medical negligence in regional hospitals. We brought you home from St. Mary’s, Kitchener. You passed away after 9 days… in your sleep at Chesley’s small town hospital.
Dad has been gone 20 yrs 2021..his loss was very tragic at age 64. Suffocating to death in Owen Sound Regional Hospital! Dr. John Moffat, (Dad’s surgeon), left his surgical practice, split to Texas BEFORE the investigation proved he had been negligent and the direct cause of my Dad’s death.
Dad was honoured for his 35 yrs working for the town of Chesley, ON. He worked his way up from a grave digger to superintendent of Public utilities/Hydro, Sewer & water. The new Hydro Sub-Station (Dad’s project) was dedicated in Dad’s name; because of his foresight to recognize the town was expanding and their need to supply Hydro for future growth.
A ceremony with a plaque was held in Dad’s honour the year he died.
The Gordon Dawm Sub-station..is just outside the Chesley cemetery iron gates.
