Betty Yvonne Denomy
Peacefully and in her own home, as were her wishes, Betty left to meet her God on October 1st, in her 92nd year. It is with sadness in saying goodbye and with gratitude for having her with us for this long, that her family bids her a loving farewell. Betty was predeceased by parents Waldemar (Wally) and Susan (Swartz) Matzanke, her husband Venne (2003), older sister June Kiddie (2022), and her younger infant sister Shirley Elizabeth.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Mark (Eileen), and Rick (Joan); grandchildren Ryan (Lisa King), Jeri (Wade) Roberts, and Joelle (Craig) Hasilo; great grandchildren Olivia and Joel Denomy, Amelia Roberts, and Evelyne and Chloe Hasilo; younger sister Adele (Dave) Middleton and brother-in-law Victor Denomy; many nieces and nephews, dear friends and neighbours, and a community in which she grew up as a young girl. Two nieces in particular shared a close bond and loving relationship with their aunt Betty: Mary Ellen Ireland and Cindy Nicholson.
Betty will be remembered as a well-respected business woman managing Denomy’s TV & Appliances for close to 60 years, and for her unwavering example of being a lady, her kindness, her quiet strength, her generous heart, her private spirituality, her strong determination, her love of music (especially piano), her glorious rose garden, and especially for the love she had for her family.
Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Thursday from 7 – 9 p.m. where a funeral service honouring Betty’s life will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 1 p.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to VON Grey Bruce, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #144 (Chesley) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
