The family announces with sadness the passing of a loving husband and father, Herbert “Larry” Witzke, peacefully on Monday, December 7th, 2020 at Health Sciences North. He was 77 years old; born in the Kitchener Hospital to Herbert and Lillian (Scheifele), both predeceased and stepmother Dorothy Witzke (McKeag).
Larry was a loving husband to Janet (Swyers) for 52 years. Loving father to Geoffrey (Lisa) and Elaine (Jean-Marc predeceased) (Robert). Dear grandfather to Sarah (Erin), Elizabeth (Dustin), Nicholas (Cassidy), and beloved great grandfather to Ella, Andrew, Deacon, and Emmett. Larry will be missed by all his family and friends, especially Bob (predeceased) (Marlene), Jim (Yvonne), Judy (Fred predeceased) (Barry), and brother in law Greg Swyers (Lorene) of Tennessee. Stepbrother to Bill, Donna, and Jim McKeag and fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Larry stayed in touch with his family roots as a member of the Chesley Legion, a gardener at heart for his friends the rabbits, and also the occasional adventure to the camp in McGregor Bay. Larry had a smile and a laugh that would make everyone feel at home. The family greatly appreciates the care he received from the Nurses and PSWs at HSN on 5 South and 4 North.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held in the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street, Sudbury, on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 from 2pm to 4pm. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic Directives, 50 people or fewer are permitted in the visitation room at any given time, and face masks are mandatory. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
