Marion Bernard, born Marion Theresa Griffin, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, on the evening of September 27, 2024. Marion, (otherwise known as Mom, Nana, Grandma, Great Grandma, and GG), was a woman who always put her family first. Whether it was her parents, her ten brothers and sisters, or her husband, Fred, and their four children, she was a wonderful spouse, sibling, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed.
Marion loved to play cards, was a very talented seamstress, and enjoyed the outdoors. Marion was always ready to feed a crowd, regardless of a planned event or a drop-in, and her signature biscuits were always whipped up effortlessly to everyone’s delight. She will be always remembered and honoured through the sharing of many wonderful memories that we have, being lucky to have her in our lives.
Every year at Christmas time for quite a while now, Mom always requested that instead of gifts that we pay it forward with an ‘act of kindness’ towards someone. So, in memory of Mom, if you can, perform an ‘act of kindness’ in her honour, and think of her.
Marion is predeceased by her husband Fred Bernard (2001), her parents, and her ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by her four children Philip (Cathy), Tim (Trish), Joe (Kim) and RoseMarie (Glenn), and her nine grandchildren, Colby, Wesley, Mitchell, Nicholas (Cristina), Spencer (Victoria), Grayson (Emily), Alanna, Justine (Arash) and Jonathan, and her seven great-grandchildren Zayah, Alden, Finley, Oaklyn, Brynlee, Griffin and Emmett, many nieces and nephews, inlaws and other important people in her life.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Parkview Manor Health Care Centre in Chesley Ontario, as well as the Elgin Lodge Retirement Living home in Port Elgin, Ontario, who cared for Mom over the past seven years.
No immediate ceremony will be held, as Mom will make the journey home to be laid in her final resting place with her beloved husband Fred, in Tracadie Cross, Prince Edward Island.
Spent a lot of time at the Bernard’s growing up ( or attempting to) and no one and I mean no one could put a home cooked meal on a table like she could. From vacations to times at the cottage she always had a smile on her face. Good memories of Mrs. Bernard and that family. She will be missed and remembered for all those times.
