Carl Ernest Hawton of Durham, formerly of Owen Sound and Chesley, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Sunday, April 17, 2011 in his 80th year.
Beloved husband of sixteen years to Joan (Flemming). Loving father of Lynda (John) Earl of Brampton, Brenda (Tim) Whibley of Chesley, Marsha Hawton of Waterloo and Lenora (Duane) Bristow of Durham. He will be missed by his ten grandchildren; Michael, Sandra, Darren, Joanna, Christina, Charleen, Natasha, Mathew, Sabrina and Spencer. Survived by his sister Kathleen McKeown of Peterborough. Carl will be fondly remembered by his step- daughter Wendy (Merv) McLean and her children Laura (Daryl) Breadner, Heather (Mark) Stoddart and Ian (Allison) McLean and their families. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, former wife Pat Taylor and foster son Brian Elliott. Predeceased by sisters Hazel Wright, Margaret Ferris, Marion Sled, brother Russell and his parents, Ernest and Margaret (Stephens) Hawton.
Visitation was held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley, on Wednesday from 7 – 9 p.m. as well as on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment in Maxwell Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Chesley Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
