Dorothy Isobel was born on September 4, 1932, to parents William and Isabelle (Watke) Steinhagen. As a young girl, she was born and raised on her parent’s farm on the 12th of Carrick.
Dorothy met and married David Wilken in 1949. In 1952, they had their daughter Linda and in 1955, their son George was born. They enjoyed many years on the farm on the 6th concession of Brant Township, surrounded by many friends and relatives. They later sold the farm and moved to Hanover. Dorothy worked at Canada Packers and in 1973, she started work at P&H Foods, Hanover, until she retired in 1997. They moved to Elmwood in the 80’s, where she lived until her Alzheimer’s Disease was so advanced that her family moved her to Elgin Abbey in 2016.
Dorothy loved dancing, camping, playing cards, caring for her beloved dog Brandy, baking, and gardening. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and had layers upon layers of puzzles that she had completed. Dorothy had a great sense of humour and loved telling jokes. She had a soft heart, and she would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it.
