George “Ross” McCurdy has taken down his bicycle shingle, hung up his CCM skates and retired his nearly new curling stick. Ross passed away peacefully at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on November 5, 2010. He leaves Frances, his loving wife of 61 years and special caregiver who relentlessly kept him comfortable at home as his health failed.
His mentorship and love will be missed by his daughters, Wendy (Terry) O’Neill, Ann (Saul) Mimran, his grandchildren Shannon (Kevin) Rankka, Jordin, Tamara and Zoe Mimran. His great grandchildren Brody and Parker Rankka will miss their Papa dearly. Ross is united in peace with his brother Jim and parents William and Jane McCurdy.
Visitation was held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Monday from 4 – 6 and 7 – 9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion service at 7 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Ross’ life was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Chesley on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.
As an expression of gratitude for the exceptional care given by Dr. Thompson and the nurses at the Chesley Hospital, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Chesley Medical Clinic.
