Rhody Family Funeral Home

William James “Jim” Strong of Chesley, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on Monday, September 6, 2010 at the age of 90.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Betty of 65 years. Loving father of Anne Maracle of Waterloo, Jean (Paul) Nicholson of Owen Sound, Jim (Merle) Strong of Waterloo and John (Kathy) Strong of St. Clements. Grandfather of Robert, Kelly, Niesha (Jason), Scott (Jenny), Angela, Cindy (Mike), Pamela (Mike) and ten great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Beatrice Strong of Southampton. Predeceased by his brothers Earl and Lewis and his parents, John and Alice (Coleman) Strong.

Jim was a retired veteran of the Second World War and was a long time employee of Gay Lea Foods. He was an avid hunter, bowler and curler and a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Family and friends were received at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. where a Royal Canadian Legion service was held at 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 1 p.m. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Chesley Legion would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
